Personal Shopper

The second collaboration between Kristen Stewart and French auteur Olivier Assayas after Clouds of Sils Maria is an unconventional ghost story that creeps up on its audience with chills both supernatural and emotional. Maureen (Stewart) is a young American working in Paris as a personal assistant and shopper for a demanding celebrity. She is also mourning for her twin brother, who died in mysterious circumstances in the Parisian house they grew up in. In between looking after her boss – and secretly trying on all the outré and beautiful fashion she comes in contact with – Maureen keeps returning to the house in an attempt to contact her brother’s spirit. Idiosyncratic, unclassifiable, audacious or reckless, whatever you end up thinking of Assayas’ genre-bending PERSONAL SHOPPER one thing is abundantly clear: Kristen Stewart is one of the most beguiling screen presences of our times.
